The Department of Computer Science offers a BA and a BS in computer science (HEGIS 0701). The department also offers four five-year combined bachelor/master degree programs and two minor concentrations.

CS Student Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the program, students should be able to:

1. analyze the requirements of a computing problem using appropriate algorithms and data structures.
2.  implement the solution of a computing problem using appropriate programming languages.
3.  use mathematical underpinnings of the discipline of computer science.
4.  recognize the ethical, legal and social implications of computing in a global society.
5.  use oral and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively and accurately.
6.  use their interpersonal skills when working in a team environment.

CS Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the program should in 3-5 years:

1. be employed in a computing or related field or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program
2. work independently to analyze the requirements of complex problems and then design and implement solutions to meet customer/client business, educational of research objectives
3. communicate professionally on technical issues in both oral and written form
4. contribute effectively in a collaborative environment
5. adapt readily to new technologies and/or disciplines
