Computer Science


The Department of Computer Science offers a BA and a BS in computer science (HEGIS 0701). The department also offers six five-year combined bachelor/master degree programs, two concentrations and a minor.

CS Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the program will have an ability to: 

SLO1: Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. 
SLO2: Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. 
SLO3: Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts. 
SLO4: Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles. 
SLO5: Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
SLO6: Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.

CS Program Educational Objectives

We expect that most graduates of our program will be able to, within 3-6 years after graduation:

  1. utilize their training and experience to independently contribute to their selected profession.
  2. engage in continuous learning and adapt to new technologies and disciplines.
  3. be aware of ethical challenges and be able to make ethical decisions in their professional life.
  4. effectively communicate within a team environment.
  5. collaborate and contribute to solving problems in their professional team.
  6. incorporate feedback and constructive criticism to enhance their professional development.
