IS 611 - Virtual Teams and Virtual Organizations Recent advances in information and communication technologies have enabled groups of people to work together while distributed in time and/or place. These increasingly widespread virtual teams depend on computer-mediated communication for their success. This course examines virtual teams and their role in transforming the nature of work and reshaping organizations. The course will explore technology choice, coordination, management, knowledge sharing, trust development, and leadership in virtual teams in various contexts including managerial and technical collaboration and decision making. Social and cultural issues will also be addressed. Hands-on virtual collaboration will be part of the learning methodology. Lecture 3 Credits
