PHL 217 - Morality and Skepticism This course studies various skeptical challenges to morality. The course examines the nature of moral reasoning, virtue ethics, utilitarianism, and deontology as they have been displayed in some of the most important texts of the moral tradition with special emphasis placed on a variety of skeptical positions with respect to morality; most notably that morality is not distinct from enlightened self-interest, religios commands, cultural mores, or personal preferences.
