RST 332 - Spirituality, Advocacy, and Activism This course invites an exploration of the ways in which spirituality has been and can continue to be connected with activist efforts to change the world. During the semester, we will reflect on the life and writings of Thomas Merton, who powerfully connected a profound spiritual practice with a passionate promotion of social justice. We will reflect on Merton’s life and insights alongside a wider web of figures who have brought together spirituality and activism (such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Dorothy Day).
