SOW 3220 - Social Work Practice I

This is the first in a sequence of three courses designed to prepare students for generalist social work practice with diverse client systems of all sizes, including the individual, the family, the small group, the organization and the community. Students are exposed to the broad theoretical base for generalist social work, to various fields of practice, and they explore a range of social work roles within the generalist framework, which recognizes, supports, and builds upon the strengths and resiliency of client systems. The planned change process is also introduced as the systematic intervention approach utilized by generalist social work practitioners and the requisite skills for its implementation are covered. Inteprofessional Practice & Education (IPE) Foundations I (online pre-work, 6 hour Saturday in-person workshop & reflections) is a required module of  the course.
