ENG 770 - Literature for Young Adults


This course is a critical survey of young adult literature and the scholarship of the field.  Specific course interests include the history of the genre, the position of young adult literature within educational curricula and culture at large, and the ways texts for adolescents reflect the development of the adolescent, particularly in relation to social and political power structures.  The course focuses on young adult texts as literature and will examine the literary techniques and conventions employed in course material.
