EDU 983 - Teaching Internship at the Adolescent Level (7-12)


During student teaching, each teacher candidate will participate in supervised classroom teaching experience in their area intended certification. During this time, the teacher candidate is assigned to a qualified English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or Foreign Language cooperating teacher(s) in the field and is closely supervised by a college supervisor in the teacher candidate’s field. Observation and practice teaching is required under the direction of the student-teacher supervisor and school mentor(s). A weekly seminar takes place on campus. Prior to enrollment, candidates must complete a minimum of 50% of the program, including education courses, qualify for the New York State Internship Certificate, and complete supervised 7-12 field experiences in the content and across the grade levels of the certification. Applications for enrollment must be submitted to the Education Department by October 1 for the Spring Semester and March 5 for the Fall Semester.
