Music Minor

The Music Minor program provides the student with the opportunity to continue their music studies and to expand their breadth of knowledge and performance experience through a wide variety of course options as well as performance opportunities in Instrumental and Vocal ensembles.

Students are required to take Music Theory and Instrumental and/or Vocal Ensemble and can choose from any of the academic classes for a 15-credit minor.

All instrumentalists are encouraged to pursue the music minor, whether from the rock, jazz or classical musical worlds. Vocalists experience a variety of musical styles in the Vocal Ensemble. There are a minimum of two concerts per year with periodic extra performance on and off campus.

Music Performance Track

Students must take 6 credits worth of courses from the below list in any combination of their choosing. These courses must be repeated in order to reach the 15 credits necessary to complete the minor.
FPA 105 - Piano Instruction Credits: 1
FPA 360 - Iona University Instrumental Ensemble Credits: 1
FPA 388 - Iona University Vocal Ensemble Credits: 1
Students must take one of the two below courses. Students wishing to skip directly into FPA 379 should contact the Director of the Music Program for further information about the diagnostic exam necessary to waive the prerequisite.

Students must complete 6 credits from the following courses:
