FPA 275 - Women in Dance The course examines the contributions and innovations of women choreographers, dancers, dance educators and dance critics through the lens of feminist studies. Coursework focuses on how women have shaped the creation and influenced the profile of both dance as an art form and the Western theatre, as well as what informs women’s artistic visions and the role of dance and choreography within historical contexts. Further consideration will be given to how society has evaluated, viewed and sometimes directed the role of women in this discipline. Coursework involves lecture, discussion and viewing of dance works. Lecture Credits: 3 Equivalent(s): WST 275 Offered in Alternate Years
