PSY 415 - Brain Disease and Dysfunction This course will offer an introduction to the biological bases of nervous system dysfunction, including many of the major neurological and psychiatric illnesses that affect the central nervous system and behavior. Each disease will be considered in detail, with an emphasis on the pathophysiological mechanisms that disrupt normal brain processes to produce dysfunction of various behaviors and cognitive abilities. Contemporary clinical and preclinical approaches to studying these disorders will be discussed, as will emerging therapeutic targets and agents when appropriate.
