HON 150 - Honors Cornerstone This seminar introduces students to the academic purpose, mission, and values of Iona’s Honors Program and its roots in the liberal arts. The course will frame the Honors Program through a diverse array of voices and perspectives. As a way of experiencing the possibilities of an interdisciplinary liberal arts education and to foster a sense of community and belonging in their first semester, students will explore a broad and meaningful topic that is connected to a current and significant issue impacting humanity, the world, cultures, and societies we inhabit, and/or the life we live alongside. In the process, students will begin to develop fundamental skills necessary to develop expansive ways of thinking and to succeed in and beyond the Honors Program. These skills include writing, critical reading, and oral communication. Seminar Credits: 3 Prerequisite: Honors status Equivalents: COL 150 , HON 101 Honors Program Course
