HON 300 - Humanities Inquiry III As the final seminar in the Honors Humanities Sequence, students will study a range of foundational texts and other forms of human expression to lead informed discussions on perennial issues and challenges facing human individuals, societies, and cultures. The subjects of these texts will cover all areas of the humanities and the arts. A distinguishing feature of this seminar is its use of texts and materials from roughly 1700 C.E. to present as well as from other time periods. Texts and materials will come from a variety of civilizations, cultures, and geographic regions. As students become more proficient in writing, reading, research, and presentation skills, students will also situate the primary material from this class within the larger contexts provided by the entire sequence. This work may include revisiting texts, materials, and points of discussion from previous seminars and Honors experiences. This seminar will also return to questions about the purpose and goals of a liberal arts education to set the stage for students’ future Honors experiences. Seminar Credits: 3 Prerequisite: Honors Status and HON 250 Equivalent: HON 202 Honors Program Course
Offered in the Spring Semester
