NUR 101 - Introduction to Professional Nursing This course provides an overview of the nursing profession, its origins, contemporary practice, and future position. The various roles of the nurse, the nursing image, and the competencies, values, and responsibilities of being a professional nurse are examined. Topics emphasized include professional communication, civility, resiliency, emotional intelligence, and personal well-being. The course serves as an introduction to the rigor of the baccalaureate curriculum, offers strategies to being successful in the academic journey to becoming a nurse, and promotes opportunities to build a sense of community within the Iona Nursing program. Lecture Credits: 1 Prerequisite: student must be declared nursing major Offered in Fall & Spring
