HST 390 - A History of the Samurai

The topical progression of the course will be chronological, from the age of early Japan up to the modern period. The focus will be on individuals to explain the changes in the history of the samurai, as such the development of the institutions, ideologies and their cultures. This course will also introduce some literary works to explain their impact culturally in Japan and the world.
