ESP 101 - Introduction to Esports

This course will provide an overview to the field of Esports. Students will examine the history, culture, economics, and broadcasting of Esports. Special emphasis will be placed on legal issues, ethics, team management and governance of competitions. Global and social issues that have arisen from the culture of gaming will be a focus of class discussions. Students will develop effective communication skills through the creation of different media in the field of mass communication. The course will conclude with an examination of future directions in this multi-billion dollar industry.
