CS 710 - Advanced Computer Organization and Architecture The course presents a detailed study of efficient CPU design and its integration into a computer system so that performance and cost are optimized. Advanced processor implementation techniques such as pipelining, superscalar operation, and hyperthreading. The course discusses multicore CPUs along with their cost/performance tradeoffs. The structure and operation of the memory hierarchy, memory design approaches, I/O structures, and the mutual impact of processor, compiler and operating system designs are considered. Students are expected to independently research advanced topics in modern computer architecture, and write technical reports summarizing their findings. Lecture Credits: 3 Prerequisite: CS 610 Offered When Needed in Spring
