SOW 3620 - Social Work Practicum Seminar II This is the second in a sequence of two courses that provide supervised classroom instruction in conjunction with the year-long professionalfield practicum (200 hours/semester). The course furthers students’ understanding of biopsychosocial assessment, and includes introduction to mental status exams and DSM-V diagnoses. In addition, it deepens and enhances student knowledge of generalist practice principles and theories, as well as effective communication skills with diverse clients. Emphasis is given to the examination of specific intervention approaches, as well as the evaluation and the termination phases in the planned change process. Student learning continues to be fostered through practicum rounds, practice re-enactments and analysis, student engagement in the IPE foundations modules, as well as other experiential activities designed to promote the development of competent generalist social work practitioners who have also been prepared for competent interprofessional collaborative practice.
