History


History

The department of History offers a major program in history (HEGIS 2205) leading to a BA degree. The department also offers a minor in history. In addition, the department, working with the Department of Education, offers a five year BA/MST program which entails the BA in History and a teaching degree/certification (MST) in Social Studies.

Objectives

The programs in the department of History are designed to provide students with a foundation for successful careers in a broad variety of professions. Serving the humanities and the Human Traditions and Expressions areas of the University core, the department seeks to empower students with critical writing and research skills as well as a deep well of wisdom for informed and active citizenship.
