The master’s degree program in Educational Leadership prepares school personnel to function in administrative and supervisory capacities. The program’s faculty include current and former superintendents, school principals and administrators who are examples of the spirit of the program. We prepare our candidates to serve as assistant principals, departmental chairpersons, pupil personnel directors and principals. The program is designed to assist the administrator or supervisor in:
- developing a comprehensive understanding of supervision and administration;
- integrating theory with practice;
- applying evolving knowledge and skills in an educational environment; and
- extending differentiated learning in a chosen specialization.
Candidates who complete this program will have met the academic requirements for the NYS initial certificate in school leadership. Upon completion of this degree and passing of the NYSTCE School Building Leader Exam, Iona will recommend the student to New York State for initial certification as a school building leader (SBL). Typically, graduates are employed as school principals, assistant principals, department chairpersons and pupil personnel directors.
