School Psychology, MA (0826.02)

The MA in School Psychology is a 65-credit program that is fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  It is designed to prepare students to function as school psychologists with a high level of professional competence and integrity.  School psychologists are professionals trained to provide a variety of services, including but not limited to, psychological assessment, intervention, prevention, and program development and evaluation to learners of all ages.  School psychologists specialize in the developmental processes of children and youth within the context of the school system.  The program includes a solid foundation in the fundamentals of psychology as well as specialization courses geared to providing students with the necessary skills to function as competent school psychologists. Opportunity to hone skills are provided in practica and internship experiences. Training completed through the Iona Center for Interprofessional Education (IPE) provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to collaborate with other professionals within the schools in order to optimize outcomes for children and their families.

* School Psychology students must pass PSY 636  and PSY 637  with a grade of B- or better in order to be eligible for placement in practicum and internships.
