The program in financial management is centered in two main areas: corporate financial management and the operation and functioning of financial markets. The objective of the program is threefold: to acquaint students with the process of financial decision-making; to provide a theoretical base from which students may examine real-world situations; to present for solution cases and problems in financial decision making under conditions of risk and uncertainty. Majors in the financial management program may choose their finance electives from a diverse list of specialized courses such as FIN 619 - Special Topics: E-Finance , FIN 620 - International Financial Management , FIN 625 - Financial Futures, Options And Swaps , FIN 627 - Project Finance , FIN 630 - Financial Models , FIN 635 - Managerial Finance , FIN 640 - Investment Analysis , FIN 644 - Short-term Financial Management , FIN 650 - Portfolio Management , FIN 651 - Sports and Entertainment Finance , FIN 661 - Commodity Markets , and FIN 670 - Global Financial Markets And Institutions . In the breadth area, the department strongly recommends ECO 610 - International Economics as an elective.
