EDU 975 - Observation and Student Teaching for Adolescence Education, Grades 7-12 As part of the student teaching experience, teacher candidates will be required to observe and participate during the entire semester in full-time experiences in, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or Foreign Language classrooms at various secondary levels. University supervisors assigned to student teachers will provide supervision. During student teaching, the teacher candidate is assigned to a qualified English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or Foreign Language cooperating teacher(s) in the field and is closely supervised by a University supervisor in the teacher candidate’s field. Placements are determined based on pre-student teaching fieldwork experiences and availability of qualified placements. A weekly seminar takes place on campus. Applications for enrollment must be submitted to the Education Department by October 1 in the Fall semester and February 15 in the Spring semester. Taskstream ® submission is required. Student Teaching Credits: 6 Prerequisites: EDU 653 , EDU 660 , EDU 640 , EDU 712 , and New York State Workshops in DASA, Child Abuse detection and Reporting, and School Violence (SAVE) Offered in Fall & Spring Department Consent Required
