IS 405 - Project Management Project management is an important discipline in many areas of the world economy such as business, healthcare, defense, research and development and many others. The Project Management course presents the concepts, tools, techniques, and applications of project management. Students will learn about common approaches employed with project management for projects of varying scope (small to very large) and budget (hundreds of thousands to billions of dollars). Case studies of both successful and unsuccessful project initiatives will provide insights into strategy alternatives and explore best practices with respect to these alternatives. The course will consider the application of theory to project scenarios through the use of various software tools. The course will cover the basic functions of these tools such as project planning, team building, project deliverables, risk assessment, conducting successful meetings, managing conflict, software tools and reporting. The course design includes lectures to cover theory and computer laboratory work to focus on practical application of tools such as Microsoft Project. A team project will be required that must be delivered in both written and oral forms. Lecture Credits: 3 Prerequisite: BUS 150 Offered in Fall & Spring
