NUR 501 - Leadership Competencies in Advanced Nursing Practice

This course is a critical examination of leadership from a variety of theoretical and philosophical perspectives. The course focuses on leadership challenges in healthcare at patient, organizational, and policy levels and on developing the nurse as leader across settings through the expansion of interpersonal communication, core leadership competencies, and professional writing skills. Students will learn how to facilitate and support teams aimed at improving quality and safety in healthcare. Course concepts will be applied to real-world scenarios through writing, engagement, and discussion.
