MTH 153 - Mathematics for Education An intensive overview of the conceptual background which underlies the major mathematical themes found in the elementary school curriculum. Concepts to be explored are taken from elementary set theory, number systems and number sense, relationships between fractions and decimals, the use of ratio, intuitive probability and intuitive geometry. These topics will be approached from a problem solving point of view with an emphasis on the appropriate uses of technology. Lecture Credits: 3 Offered in Fall & Spring
