FIN 326 - Statement Analysis: Valuation Approach


The primary objective of this course is to provide students with the knowledge of and the ability to use financial analysis techniques in business performance evaluation and forecasting. It starts with a focus on a firm’s investment activities and their financing followed by measurement of its performance using various tools such as ratio analysis, DuPont technique and different valuation models. Other topics include income flows vs. cash flows, industry vs. firm performance, the relative importance of debt and equity financing, financial forecasting, and planning. Throughout the course, students will be exposed to excel spreadsheets to develop models used in financial decision-making and the financial statements of real companies.
