CHM 107 - Principles of General Chemistry The fundamental principles of chemistry in the lecture and laboratory, with emphasis on selected concepts and applications, including: the mole concept, stoichiometry, solutions, measurement and quantitative analysis, structure of the atom, molecular structure, chemical bonding, molecular forces, acids/bases/salts, solubility and physical properties of solutions, and selected topics from kinetics and thermodynamics. Three lectures, one problem-solving hour, and three hours of laboratory a week for one semester. This course satisfies the core curriculum science requirement for non-STEM majors. CHM 109 is the correct General Chemistry course for science majors, including pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy, pre-PA, and pre-veterinary. Lecture/Lab Credits: 5 Core Course
