MFT 600 - Theories and Systemic Techniques II This course will facilitate introduction and knowledge of the Post-Modern Theories in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. Students will learn the evolution, pioneers, constructs and concepts, assessments and interventions, as well as similarities and differences of the classic systems theories. Several of the models such as Solution Focused, Collaborative, Narrative, Emotional Focused Therapy, Internal Family, Feminist Approaches and Multicultural Relational Perspective will be covered in the course. Students will learn how these models understand individual, couple and family dynamics. The course will offer in-depth critical analysis of the interface of contextual factors such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion/spirituality, ability, etc., with these classical family therapy theories. The course will assist students develop perceptual and conceptual knowledge of the relevance of these theories to working with contemporary diverse individuals, families and relationships. Additionally, the development of advanced clinical case conceptualization within these models will be covered. Lecture Credits: 3 Prerequisite: MFT 560 Equivalent: MFT 796 Offered in Fall Semester
