Data Science Minor

The Data Science minor is based on a vision of data science as an inherently interdisciplinary and team-based endeavor. The minor combines computational and technical training with subject knowledge. Students from various disciplines will have an interdisciplinary experience by utilizing their statistical and technological skills to enhance their domain-specific knowledge.

Requirements for Minor

CS 201 - Computer Science I Credits: 4
CS 364 - Introduction to Data Science Credits: 3
CS 465 - Data Mining Credits: 3
IDS 390 - Data Science Capstone Credits: 3
And one of the following courses:
BUS 210 - Statistics Credits: 3
ECO 309 - Statistics for Economists Credits: 3
MTH 270 - Applied Statistics Credits: 3
MTH 432 - Probability and Statistics I Credits: 3
PSY 323 - Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences 1 Credits: 3

Index Requirement

All CS courses counted toward the minor must be completed with a minimum grade of “C”. To continue in the minor, students who do not meet this requirement must repeat the course before taking any other course for which this course is a prerequisite.
