The Department of Computer Science offers a BA and a BS in computer science (HEGIS 0701). The department also offers six five-year combined bachelor/master degree programs, two concentrations and a minor.

CS Student Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the program, students should be able to:

  1. analyze the requirements of a computing problem using appropriate algorithms and data structures
  2. design, implement and evaluate the solution of a computing problem using appropriate programming languages
  3. recognize the ethical, legal, and social implications of computing and make informed judgements based on these principles
  4. use oral and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively and accurately
  5. use their interpersonal skills when working as a leader or a member of a team environment
  6. apply Computer Science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions

CS Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the program should in 3-5 years:

  1. be employed in a computing or related field or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program
  2. work independently to analyze the requirements of complex problems and then design and implement solutions to meet customer/client business, educational of research objectives
  3. communicate professionally on technical issues in both oral and written form
  4. contribute effectively in a collaborative environment
  5. adapt readily to new technologies and/or disciplines
